World Grand Prix 2022
Der 25. World Grand Prix fand vom 3. bis 9. Oktober 2022 in der Morningside Arena in Leicester statt.
Er ist das einzige Turnier, bei dem die Spieler jedes Leg mit einem Doppel beginnen und beenden müssen (DIDO).
Neben Phil Taylor, der den Grand Prix bereits elfmal gewinnen konnte, stehen Michael van Gerwen (fünfmal), James Wade (zweimal) sowie Daryl Gurney, Alan Warriner, Colin Lloyd, Robert Thornton, Gerwyn Price und Jonny Clayton in der Siegerliste.
Jonny Clayton bezwang seinen Landsmann Gerwyn Price im Finale des World Grand Prix 2021 dank einer fantastischen Leistung klar mit 5:1. „The Ferret“ war seinem Kontrahent in allen Belangen überlegen, warf trotz des schwierigen Modus knapp 95 Punkte im Schnitt und machte fünf Finishes über 100 Punkte aus. Mit dem Siegerscheck von 110.000 £ kletterte er in der Weltrangliste von Rang 14 auf sieben, Price bekam als Runner-up noch 50.000 £.
Beim World Grand Prix traten die ersten 16 der PDC Order of Merit gegen die ersten 16 der Pro Tour Order of Merit an.
